Ma'at Sankofa African Learning Temple (MSALT) was created out of a deep desire to reconnect communities with the wisdom, achievements and values of African civilization.
For generations, much of this history has been overlooked or misrepresented. MSALT was founded to help restore that knowledge through engaging workshops, cultural education and community-centered learning.
Inspired by the ancient African principle of Sankofa-"look back and fetch it"- our work encourages individuals to learn from the past in order to build stronger futures.
Through programs rooted in the principles of Ma'at, we aim to cultivate truth, justice, balance, and responsibility in the next generation of leaders.
Our goal is simple:
bring knowledge back to the community and provide spaces for people to use it.

Brenda Allen is the founder and visionary behind Ma'at Sankofa African Learning Temple (MSALT), an educational initiative dedicated to restoring knowledge of African History, culture and values within the community.
The idea for MSALT began during a deeply personal period of reflection. For nearly two weeks, Brenda found herself waking in the middle of the night with a heavy thought on her heart: our people are starving from a lack of knowledge. She began asking herself what she could do to help address this problem.
The answer that continued to come to her was simple but powerful - "feed the people."
Knowing that building a traditional brick-and-mortar school would require resources far beyond what she had available, Brenda contiuned searching for a practical way to bring knowledge directly to the community. After witnessing the impact of the Black Business Bus Tour, she was inspired by the idea of using a bus as a vehicle for education.
From that moment, the vision for MSALT's Mobile African Learning Museum was born - a traveling classroom designed to bring African history, cultural education and leadership development directly into neighborhoods, schools and community spaces.
Guided by the ancient African principles of Ma'at and the philosophy of Sankofa, Brenda's mission is to help people reconnect with the knowledge of their history, strengthen their sense of identity and inspire future generations to lead with wisdom, balance and purpose.
Through MSALT, she continues working to ensure that knowledge of African civilization and cultural heritage is shared, preserved and passed forward.
"Our people are starving from a lack of knowledge. My mission is to feed them."
